Explain how a lithium-ion battery is built, and why a damaged cell can go into thermal runaway.
Name the four main causes of battery fires, and spot the warning signs of a failing battery.
Find where batteries are charged, kept and thrown away in a building, and judge the risk each place brings.
Set out safe charging and storage: the charger, the place, the time and the checks.
Write battery rules into a fire risk assessment and a site policy, using the order of controls.
Act on a battery fire: get people out, shut the door, call 999, and keep everyone away from what is left.

Every certificate has a unique reference that anyone can check online. Certificates record what you completed or attended with us. They are not a regulated qualification and do not by themselves confirm competence for a particular role. Under the Building Safety Act, competence is skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours. This online course helps you evidence knowledge. Skills are evidenced on a practical course, where you're assessed in person. Experience and behaviours come from your work.
For fire marshals and fire wardens. Find and report fire hazards, do the routine checks, and get everyone out when the alarm sounds. Know when to use an extinguisher.
Learn to write PEEPs that work on the day. The course covers who needs one, the law, refuges, lifts, evacuation chairs and alerts. It also covers the conversation, the plan, the helpers, the reviews, and the Residential PEEPs rules from April 2026.
Half a day with a trainer covering fire classes, extinguisher types and colour codes, pre-use checks and safe use, with each delegate assessed in person.
